“John Mays played a major part in my becoming interested in broadcasting, I had the opportunity to visit with John when he was working the night shift at KBOA, and I just decided that I wanted to be part of broadcasting. John had gone to the Pathfinder School of Broadcasting in Kansas City and he said that’s the route to go. So I applied for a Veteran’s Administration loan and was accepted and attended Pathfinder School. There happened to be an opening at KBOA after about eight months and they released me early from the school and I started to work in November, 1950 at KBOA.”
