Extremely heavy winds over the weekend slowed down work on the installation of the FM antenna at Radio Station KBOA, and as this (paper goes to ) press Monday afternoon (there is) still some question about (whether or) not the equipment would (be ready) to begin tests on FM (before the) first night ball game starts tonight (Tuesday).
Bob Conner, chief engineer, said Monday afternoon that he was still hopeful that all of the equipment would be in place and that the tests could be begun Tuesday afternoon. Representatives from the Commercial Radio Equipment Co., of Kansas City and a factory representative of the General-Electric Co., from Atlanta, Ga., are scheduled to be in Kennett Tuesday morning to assist in tuning and making adjustments of the new antenna and transmitter, and if no unforeseen difficulties arise and if the rain will hold off for another day, it is quite possible that radio and baseball fans in the vicinity of Kennett will get the first night ball game over KBOA-FM tonight (Tuesday).
During the past few weeks, all of the radio shops in Kennett have been enjoying a good business in the sale of FM sets and tuners, and it is estimated that there are (more) than 250 sets in the city of Kennett not counting the sets in farm homes and in the neighboring towns. Mr. Conner said Monday that while he would not attempt to predict how far the new FM signal would penetrate with the installation that is being made at this time, he felt confident that those persons living within a radius of 20 miles of Kennett would be able to pick up a good consistent signal, without the use of an outside or dio-pole antenna. As has been stated before the permanent installation is not being made at this time and before the summer is over KBOA-FM expects to be on the air with a (unreadable).
